The closest camping option here is Pacheedaht Campground, situated on a magnificent 2km long sandy beach. If you don’t have your own accommodation, Port Renfrew is a great place to stay a night or two. Tucked away slightly inland at the end of the drive is tiny (and slightly sleepy) Port Renfrew. Head south (left, when facing the ocean) from the Sombrio Beach trailhead. At the latter, you can look for a hidden waterfall. Visit one beach, visit them all – my favourites along here are Mystic and Sombrio. The Juan de Fuca coast offers beach-combing, ocean-side camping and dramatic coastline.

Back on the coast, watch the waves break in at Sheringham Point Lighthouse.įrom here, the road starts to get quiet and the scenery even more beautiful. Next, consider a short detour Sooke Potholes and discover beautiful, polished rock pools. Get your first real taste of the Pacific Coast at East Sooke Regional Park and discover white sand beaches, petroglyphs and impressive viewpoints.
